At its first full formal meeting, held on 21st January, FSEG decided to back previously tested public opinion and proposed to raise funds through grants, to establish a community centre and medical centre at the site of the Ferryside Education buildings.
Two options are to be explored, one to dismantle the current buildings and to establish a new build, including a community centre/ sports hall/school hall and medical centre, and an other option to adapt the current buildings for the same purposes and to restore the residential facilities.
Associated options such as establishing a boxing club and arts/crafts/environmental projects including the possible provision of allotments were also discussed. Â The chair called for any residents who wished to make a constructive contribution to the project to join the newly constituted social enterprise group.
