One of my favourite journalists,George Monbiot, a contributor to the Guardian newspaper and respected author has just posted a fascinating article on why agricultural policies in the UK are contributing to increased flood events close to rivers. The Common Agriculture Policy as it relates to farm payments and the operating practices of water authorities all contribute to more water than necessary being discharged into rivers rather than being absorbed by the ground. Ferryside Village Forum are holding three Food and Craft markets this Christmas. We will have a great range of food and local craft on sale which we will be telling you more about over the next few weeks. We are also celebrating the award of a grant to further develop the market project and innovative keyhole garden scheme. Financial assistance has come from Natural Resources Wales and Carmarthenshire Environment Partnership.
The Christmas Market, key hole garden and new café and marquee will be officially opened by Jonathan Edwards the MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr at about 10.00 on Saturday the 30th November. Further markets on the 7th and 14th December.
