Save Our Public Toilets Campaign

Dear Elector,

Your active support is needed now! Please use these statements to lobby your County Councillor this weekend. His/her support is urgently needed in the County Council Revenue Budget 2013/14 meeting on Tuesday 26 February.

1. Partnership working & accountability: We want to work in partnership with the County Council to rationalise public convenience responsibilities in a way that is politically and financially feasible – in line with the spirit embodied within the ‘Carmarthenshire Community Strategy: Thinking Together, Planning Together and Doing Together 2004-2020.’
2. Strategic examination: We want a firm commitment that the County Council will undertake a strategic examination of the public convenience stock over the coming months, in place of the current blanket quick-fix approach aimed solely at budget-cutting. This strategic examination must be based on in-depth research, financial feasibility studies, SWOT analyses and meaningful consultations with communities, tourist organisations and small businesses.
3. In consequence the public conveniences expenditure allocation in the County Council Revenue Budget 2013-2014 must remain the same as that allocated in 2012-2013.

You are probably aware that by buying oil as a group you can enjoy cheaper rates.

I am prepared to order oil for people living in Ferryside

However, there are certain conditions:

 

I  use J E Lawrence, whose rates are very competitive, and if you pay the driver or send payment to them within a week of delivery you qualify for a discount.

By ordering oil this way the company sends out less tankers, which in turn must be kinder to our environment.

Women Making a Difference courses

OK all – loads of you have asked about the Women Making a Difference courses. Here’s the details:

Engendering Change is a free course which successfully develops women’s confidence and ability to get their voices heard in their community.

All courses will be over 5 days from 9.30 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. but if you have to arrive late/leave early to pick up kids/grandkids – that’s fine.

Carmarthen – Saturdays – starting 23rd Feb

Whitland – Thursdays – starting 21st Feb

Llandeilo – Tuesdays – starting 19th Feb

Some women have asked for an evening course and some for a course in Llanelli – we’re hoping to arrange these too or any other time/place that suits – let us know if you’re interested

It’s informal – there’s no pressure – you take it at your own pace. Me and Rachie Cool Duck Red have done this course and loved it

If you want to come but there are barriers preventing you – like transport or childcare or lack of confidence – let me know and I’ll see if I can help
