The residents of Ferryside showed a great deal of positive interest in Ferryside Social Enterprise’s plans for the future of the old Education Centre at a well attended public meeting held in the village hall on Saturday December 14th. An outline of the plan was presented by the Rev Philip Johnes chairman of the group and suggestions were also taken from the public. A grant of £13,700 from Carmarthenshire’s Rural Development Programme has enabled detailed plans to be drawn up for FSEG by architect David Darkin which will be used along with a business case to help raise further substantial grants to realize the project in the coming year.
It is hoped that the education centre will be redeveloped as a community centre (Canolfan Glanyfferi Centre) maintaining the Medical Surgery but also including facilities for Well Being, Respite Care, Sport, Arts & Crafts, Business Start Ups and Workshops arranged around a central Hostel or Bunkhouse for tourists and visitors.
