An open letter to all clubs, societies, interest groups and individuals in the St Ishmaels area

You may have noticed lots of activity in the Old Education Centre in the last few months.

More is about to happen.

This is due to the hard work of the Ferryside Social Enterprise Group (FSEG) which has recently become a charity, the Ferryside Village Forum (who run the market), Ferryside Sports, Men’s Sheds, Broadside films and all the other groups such as the Arts and Heritage group including many enthusiastic Individuals.

We feel very strongly that this valuable resource should be utilised for the benefit of the whole community. An opportunity to get involved and find out what is happening has presented itself.

A local resident with considerable experience in developing similar sites and making successful bids for substantial funding has made a very generous offer to run a series of workshops to bring together the range of ideas that have already been developed and new suggestions that come from the community. Business opportunities will be discussed. He will then help to create a revitalised and inclusive plan of action and work out a schedule of bids that stand a strong chance of succeeding.

This expertise would normally cost a fortune!!

All we need to make this work is YOU

With representatives from the local interest groups, clubs, societies, businesses and enthusiastic individuals from Ferryside, Llansaint and within St Ishmaels parish we will meet on Sunday 12th October to strengthen the Vision and work together on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th to develop a working plan.

We really do need everyone’s ideas.

Bus Service 198 from 18th May 2014 , Llanelli – Trimsaran – Kidwelly – Ferryside – Carmarthen

Please see http://www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk/English/transport/Buses/TravelTimes/Pages/BusServiceChanges18052014.aspx for full details and details of alterations to other Bus Services.

“The existing service is provided by Carmarthenshire County Council but duplicates other services along many parts of the route. The service will therefore be reduced so that there is a limited service between Llanelli, Trimsaran and Kidwelly, with the aim of complementing the other commercial services. Buses will therefore run from Llanelli to Carmarthen at 0740, 1420 and 1650, returning from Carmarthen to Llanelli at 0850, 1610 and 1800. This means that the County has managed to accommodate journeys from the Llansaint and Ferryside areas into Carmarthen before 0900 and returning at 1800, following the withdrawal of similar commercial journeys by First Cymru last year. Most of the above journeys will run via the Waunyclun area in Trimsaran.

Recognising that the Llansaint and Ferryside areas do not have access to other bus services, we are retaining daytime journeys between Kidwelly and Carmarthen on this route. The buses will leave Kidwelly at 0925 and 1235, returning from Carmarthen at 1010 and 1320.

The 0925 journey from Kidwelly to Carmarthen and the return at 1320 from Carmarthen will run via Croesyceiliog instead of Cwmffrwd, so that the Croesyceiliog area now has a service on Mondays to Saturdays, in place of service 240 only on Wednesdays.

The Sunday service will be withdrawn.”
