Disappearing Hay Meadows and our wonderful Welsh countryside

Chatted last night with founder Forum member Victoria Bancroft in the Yacht Club,Ferryside. Victoria recommended watching a short speech by the BBC wildlife reporter Iolo Williams The Welsh Assembly in 2013. I found it a moving and sincere call to action.

Charcoal Making course at Coed Panteg Woodland on the 10th and 11th May

Woodland Coop Ltd are hosting  a two day “hands on” course about making small quantities of top grade charcoal using coppiced wood in  steel drum kilns. They will also use a professional 6′ kiln to demonstrate how larger quantities of charcoal can be produced.

Over the course of the two days they hope to show you the coppiced woodland, appreciate the woodland ecology , view newly planted woods and see the various interesting projects ongoing at Coed Panteg

Find out about the flora, fauna and wildlife found on the foreshore of Ferryside. The River TYWI is an SSSI a Site of Special Scientific Interest, INCLUDING –SIGNIFICANT POPULATIONS OF LITTLE RINGED PLOVERS AND SAND MARTINS. OTTERS AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF FLOWERS AND INSECTS GRACE THE AREA.

Join us for a guided tour led by Amy Marsden ( Community engagement officer, RSPB) and Sarah Kessel ( Chief Executive officer of The West Wales Wildlife trust).

Starting from the River Tywi Yacht club at 1.PM
